I am 6 wks pregnant and have severe morning sickness for about a week now. Today it really hit me hard, I have thrown up every 20 mins since 7:30 this morning! I can't stop being sick! I am actually throwing up bright yellow stomach acid! I don't think i am supposed to throw up like this. Any suggestions? I work full time and go to college and this is killing me.

I'm 7 weeks today and was just released from the hospital on Wednesday for severe dehydration due to pretty much non-stop puking for 5 days.
I've found that if I keep some sort of hard candy or lollipop in my mouth all the time it keeps the yucky taste from the back of my throat from making my sick to my stomach. Also remember to stay hydrated since dehydration will only make it worse. Stay away from the saltines and ginger ale if your mind associates them with throwing up. Instead try graham crackers and 7-up. I've also found that I can not eat anything i've recently thrown up. Something to do with my gag reflex. I'm looking forward to the weeks were I don't feel like tossing my cookies all day. Although i'm completely excited about being pregnant right now i'm wondering what in the heck i got myself into. Congratulations to all and remember you are not alone.

Hi all, I've found that with both of my first two pregnancies (where I had MS which was really all day sickness) that eating cashews and candied ginger were the easiest to keep down. Cashews are high in protein and relatively easy to digest and ginger helps calm queasiness. Hope this helps!

I think it is unfortunate that the three months we feel the sickest and want to curl up in a ball and never get out of bed are the three months we try to keep it a secret and not let anyone know. It is so lonely and your husband can only tell you "you will feel better soon" so many times. These are the months you need the most support. Thankfully we have forums like these to reach out. I can say I am finally at 12 weeks and do feel worlds better. I ate two days in a row!!! It is funny, before I got pregnant I always thought people would spot a baby bump immediately and call me out on it. Instead, people are saying I am very pale and losing weight and essentially look like crap. Isn't there supposed to be some glow? When does that show up?

During my pregnancy for my now 2 year old daughter I was so sick! I was the same weight at nine months of pregnancy that I was when I found out I was pregnant. I lost twenty five pounds and was able to gain it back towards the end of my pregnancy when I could eat and hold food down in the evenings. I was so weak from throwing up that my doctor recommended I not ever try labor and have a c-section. I told myself I would never do this to my body again. That is until I held my Beautiful Julia in my arms. I think I thought I had the flu for that whole nine months, I never comprehended that my husband and I would bring home this little angel that looked just like him. Shes the love of our lives and we want more. But I'm terrified to be that sick again. Before It was just me I had to take care of now I feel by getting pregnant again I would take so much away from my sweet little girl.

I am sick all day for the past 3 weeks! Bedridden, tired and too weak to do anything. My mouth is bitter 24/7 and that makes me all the more sick. I am not sure how to get rid of this bitter taste, it just doesn't go away. I don't even have a job and wonder how women manage work and being pregnant. It all started in week 6. I think I am in my 9th or 10th week now. Its not getting any better. I hear strange sounds in my lower abdomen. I feel a sharp pain in the lower abdomen whenever I sneeze or cough. I haven't gained any weight. I have been eating regular meals though; Milk, fruits, nuts, lean meats, bread, cheese, some cereal, yogurt. Hubby has been very very supportive all this while. I haven't had to get out of bed or do anything! This is my first and I swear not to have anymore. I am guilty about not being thankful or excited. I am nauseaus and vomit sometimes. I want to be normal again.

i am 11 weeks and i can't keep anything down, not even water. The only thing i am living on at the moment is cruskets and that is not enough as i am feeling so weak and tired and do not have the energy to do a thing. I don't have any food cravings so i have no desire to try anything to help me. I am so over morning sickness!!!!

I agree with the lady who suggested that we should be able to hibernate through pregnancy. Right now, I'm kinda wishing I wasn't blessed with "the right to work". I'm 8 weeks pregnant, and have been so sick. My mom suffered from morning sickness too, but nobody ever tells you that it's just like having the stomach flu all day/every day. To have to show up for work every day feeling like this is just a nightmare. I missed the last two days, and my co-workers are being cross with me because I happen to be having a good day today, and I'm not getting sick every 20 minutes. One thing that is helping is just to constantly keep eating little bits of food. It's like a balancing act; not too much, not too little. For me, the more "sick" foods I eat (crackers, soups, etc. . .) the worse I feel. If I eat just normal meal foods, I feel better. Ginger ale helps too. I got the acupressure Sea Bands, and those didn't do jack. I really, reeeeeally hope this doesn't linger beyond the first trimester, or I don't know how I'll manage to keep my job.

I'm pregnant with my 4th! I was sooo sick with my first daughter and completely miserable. With my second and thrid i had a few bouts of MS but it was hardly at all. With my current pregnancy i started feeling nauseated within a week of getting pregnant. I was soo sure it was more mental since we were trying and were just waiting to get to take the test for confirmation. Turns out it wasn't in my head....I'm now almost 7 weeks and MS 24/7 kicked in about 2 weeks ago. The brain has an incredible way of making you forget this part of the pregnancy cuz i know it was this bad with my first and yet here i am again lol. Smells bother me....right down to my own deodorant. Its so hard to be motivated to do anything and i have work and my kids and their schools and clubs. I'm going to try every cure they offer out there. Alot of this stuff wasnt around 13 yrs ago with my first. I hopefully only have about 7 weeks more and i just don't know how i'm going to make it thru. Fingers crossed i make it with my sanity entacted!

I am 13 weeks along with my second child. With my first child the nausea lasted from week 4 to week 12. It was horrible, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst, it was a 10 every day. I felt like I was going to die. I tried everything, including Zophran and phenergan and nothing really helped. I had every hope that I would not be sick with a second child. No such luck. With this pregnancy it started in week 5 and is just now starting to ease up. I have been sick every single day, throwing up probably 200 times in the last 8 weeks so much so that I started throwing up blood. I can't cook and can barely stand the smell of opening the refrigerator door, and even my favorite foods don't stay down. In my first pregnancy I was able to sleep--actually being asleep was the only time I was not sick. This time I even wake up sick in the middle of the night. Even so, I do feel like it is somewhat milder than it was in my first pregnancy and the phenergan acutally works, though it makes me so tired it is hard to take care of my first child. I am so happy to have found this web site, and wish I had known about it during my first pregnancy. Good luck to all of you out there!

Im on my third child. Im merely 4 weeks and my symptoms are slowly starting. Im up at 6 am and I have to get up slowly because I feel like I will immediately throw up or the queeziness is unbearable. I had extreme nausea with both of my daughters along with excessive salivation, Yuck. If food and smells werent making me ill, my saliva was the culprit. I started having cramping and mild sore breast 2 weeks before my period. I guess its my third so I noticed the symptoms early. Good luck everyone!

I’m 9 weeks pregnant and have been terribly sick for the last 2 ½ weeks. I dry heave all the time. Even sleep offers no relief as I wake up 4 – 5 each night to dry heave some more. I cant seem to even look at vegetables or meat let alone eat them. The doctor wont prescribe anything because I’m not actually bringing up food. It’s just this uncontrollable violent heaving. Thankfully I had two weeks off over Christmas and was able to bury myself in bed. The MS is draining me of all energy. I dont feel like myself at all. It takes so much effort just to put on a bit of mascara. I’m barely able to complete the most basic of house chores. My husband has been very sweet and supportive but this is our first child and he is at a complete loss as to what to do. I try to smile for him so he doesn’t worry but even that seems to require a lot of effort. I’m back at work today and am just praying that this passes after the first trimester. Forcing myself to get up when my alarm went off made me feel even worse (if that’s possible).

Hi to all the moms to be. I am now 11 weeks and 3 days. And, like all of you, have suffered from horrific MS. It started at 5 weeks for me. It ws almost as soon as I took the pregnancy test and it was positive my body was like yep and now it's time to get sick!!! I have tried everything too. My Dr. gave me prescription prenatel vitamens and they are much easier on my stomache then the over the counter ones. The only thing that has helped are popsicles and lemonade. I live in Phoenix, AZ. and the heat just makes me feel worse so anything freezing cold has been amazing. The good news is I have noticed in the past week that I am not throwing up as much and one night even managed to do yoga. So, maybe it is true that this will subside as we get closer to the 2nd trimester. hang in there girls!! Only people who have gone through this can understand how terrible it is. I haven't felt human in such a long time, and I just long for the day when I have the energy to maybe put a little makeup on or get my hair done. For now though it's sweat pants and ponytails, and I am lucky if I can take a shower!!!

I'm 9 weeks and a few days and I, like you, am struggling terribly with morning sickness. It's exhausting, upsetting and this morning mid toilet bonding, crying, having a nose bleed, I really thought I couldn't do this... it's one of the hardest things I've done. VitaminWater is lovely and I have tried everything sometimes it stays down other times it doesn't. SeaBands haven't worked and neither has the Vitamin B6. I feel bad for my husband but he's been absolutely amazing; I've just lost my sense of self. I don't want to do anything as I want to be close to a toilet. I called in sick today but have to go to work and I guess need to tell them too... have my first scan in the diary in a few weeks and I'm excited about that... I really hope this passes. You are not alone out there; we all share your discomfort and unhappiness. Cx

I am 12 weeks pregnant with twins. I have a 2 1/2 year old at home, and I want to shoot myself! I am sick all of the time, I throw up daily, usually around 10 PM (weird?). I feel like I will never feel normal again. Prescriptions have not worked, it is all I can do to keep my vitamin down! I have been sick since 5 weeks, and I feel like it will never end! My husband has been great, but he is started to get frustrated with doing all of the house work etc. I just wanted to vent, and to thank everyone who has posted, and helped me to feel like I am not in this alone!!

Oh god - i'm now 17 weeks and the MS is worse than ever. I have had it now since 6 weeks and today i couldn't even keep the Zofran down (which has been the only way to keep anything down in the past few months). I can barely eat and vomit morning, noon and night. I am now accepting that the MS may not go away although i hope i am not one of those women who have it until labour. No it doesn't kill you and yes it does make you stronger but my goodness 24/7 MS is toatlly draining and after nearly 3 months of it my body and my mental state is paying the price. I look and feel terrible. My lowest point was vomitting so violently that the toilet water bounced right back into my face and then after washing that off i noticed i had burst the blood vessels in my eyes. My job was made redundant right after i told them i was pregnant but there is no way i can work with this MS anyway. Total admiration to all those ladies out there who are still working or have other kids to look after whilst having this severe MS. I cannot fathom how you would do it but you are my hero's right now and I think of you everytime I complain about my situation as i know it could be a lot worse. Praying the New Year brings an end to MS for us all. And yes, I'm sure this will ALL be worth it when we have our little bundles of joy!

My morning sickness started about week 5. I got so sick one day I was throwing up every half hour and then I knew I had to get some help so the nurse gave me some anti-nausea pills. Since then just nauseated all throughout the day and around 6-9 every night I throw up I just can't wait till the second trimester...

I am 17 weeks pregnant. From weeks 6-14 I felt terrible, throwing up 4-5x a day sometimes. I never lost weight so I wasn't prescribed any medications. NOTHING worked for me. I tried ginger, sea bands, eating often, crackers, B vitamins....the list goes on. I do have a list of things that make it worse though:
1. Being tired (waking up early or going to bed late is a no no)
2. Moving fast
3. Not doing anything...keeping my mind busy helps sometimes.
4. Cooking, or the smell of cooking(get frozen dinners, they saved my life).
5. Smelling cleaning chemicals
6. For me the smell and taste of mint...I switched to cinnamon toothpaste.
So stay away from these things for the first little while at least.
I, however have been feeling better recently. I woke up this morning throwing up everytime I moved, so it hasn't competely gone away, but I am greatful that I am feeling somewhat normal at least sometimes. I've called in sick to work about 5 or 6 days due to my sickness, but thankfully my boss is very understanding. I recently felt the baby move, which makes it all worth it (really, I didn't believe this at first either). I did tell my husband that I am only doing this one more time though! I just want to wish everyone on here good luck and hope that they get some relief!

Hello Ladies, thanks so much for everyone's posts. I want you all to know you arent alone (although Im sure you do by now) I feel AWFUL!!!! Im eight weeks pregnant and felt great up to the day before Christmas...I thought I was the lucky one...but No No NO. It hit and it hit hard. I can barely eat anything, I feel gaggy all day, I dont want to move because when I do I throw up. My mom had seven kids and I never heard her ever say anything about morning sickness. This is the worst! But Lets hang it there, my cousin who had three miscarriages before she finally had her baby, said she was never sick when she miscarried, and really sick with her baby.. so its a good sign our baby is really using us! But enough of the Positive Patsy, this is hell! Thanks to whoever said to eat icecold juicy fruit, that has been helping a lot....

I'm into my 9th week, and I have been missing work for 3 weeks. I keep vomitting all the time, and am just living on a warm water diet. All the food I've taken (crackers etc) came out. Including my B6 vitamins and folic acid All the medications don't work and I'm simply at loss on what to do! I desperately want my baby but I just wish the vomitting will stop.
I've lose so much weight, I even weigh less than I did when I was in my teens, and no one in my family can relate cause my sisters and mum never had morning sickness. So they think I'm just being melodramatic.
Worst of all, I may even lose my job cause I've been missing work and my bosses don't understand that I'm simply too ill. When I'm at work, I spend 80% of my time rushing to the toilet. So the icing on cake will be to lose my job and there's no way potential employers will employ me when I'm pregnant.

Thanks for all your post...this is my first pregnancy and i'm having a hard time being happy or grateful when it feels like torture for me. I have been sick since 4 weeks and am now 8 weeks or so. Nothing helps! I force healthy food like nuts, yogurt, bananas, water, and pretzels down my throat...sometimes hamburger helps....all in all i'm sick to my stocmache with horrible headchaes from morning to night and it interrupts my sleep too. I'm almost to the point i don't EVER wanna have another child again. I really look up to you monthers who are preganant and have to take care of cildren, because I can barely do anything at all. My husband cleaned entire apt today spotless and I cried it was soo nice. I can't cook at all anymore, the smell of food or candles or anything prominent disturbs my senses and stomache soooo much! I pray it ends so i can have some excitement, I feel guilty for disliking pregnancy so much....I'm getting bitter...Christmas was so difficult with all the smells I slept through family events.... I don't work because my job fired me right when i told them I was pregnant and now have a pending labor case....I pray for allof you going through what i'm going through...hoping for redemption from this sickness and some desire for food and exercise and enjoying life again...

Sorry you feel so yucky. I'm 13 weeks as well. My m.o. comes and goes, but when it's bad I feel like roadkill.
The top things that have worked for me:
1. smelling lemons & peppermint
2. ice cold juicy fruits, like pears
3. bottled water w/ added electrolytes.
4. biscuits w/ honey.
Hope you feel better!

Only 6 weeks pregnant and yes, I have been in bed dyeing for the past two. Thank goodness I am a student and on holidays. I do not understand how people can go through this and go to work...and perhaps be raising other children at the same time. This is my first. And I can't eat. Can't drink. even water makes me sick. And somehow I am still gaining weight even though I vomit the tiny bit of food I manage to eat. My closest friend is 2 months pregnant and has had maybe one or two dizzy spells. I am more than jealous. I wish there was a cure for morning sickness. and I really think they should change the name to 24/7 sickness. I would LOVE to be able to eat something other than crackers =( Christmas dinner did not sit well with me. all the scents. ICK. why cant we hibernate through pregnancy??!!?!

I am getting close to 11 weeks and think I am over the hump. I was fortunate to have a light case, but still dread meal time and get bouts of feeling gross throughout the day (mainly after I shower and before bed). The new miracle food helping me get some nutrients is a good smoothie. Add some strawberries, bananas, frozen yogurt, and a dash of fruit juice (I use V8 fusion), and it is yummy. I have just learned that an empty stomach is the worst for you, so whenever you feel good enough to snack, you really should. Take a nap and don't feel guilty if you need to lay down. And know it will go away!
